BS 10012 – “Data Protection Specification – Personal Data Management System”. BS 10012 became the world’s first personal data management system (PDMS) standard. It defines the requirements for a data protection system, which is the basis, among other things, for ensuring and maintaining compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
It can be used by organizations of all sizes, areas of activity and ownership to create a management system that includes procedures in such areas as training and awareness raising, risk assessment, data sharing, data retention and destruction, disclosure of data to third parties.
